Chocolate Buttercream for Nifty Nozzles

This Chocolate Buttercream recipe is the best to use with our Nifty Nozzles, the genuine Russian piping tips.

The buttercream is much easier and smoother to work with and it is made with our Sugar and Crumbs Natural Flavoured Cocoa Powder or your choice.

In fact, this is a very simple recipe for chocolate buttercream frosting, good for any cake! Four simple ingredients is all it takes.Carol McFarland is the owner of Sugar and Crumbs, and she does demonstrations on how to use them every Monday on our Facebook Page.

35g Sugar and Crumbs Natural Flavoured Cocoa Powder of your choice
250g Unsalted Butter – Softened
500g Plain Icing Sugar
1 Tablespoon Condensed Milk, Water or Milk.


1. Beat the butter until light and whippy.

2. Add Sugar and Crumbs Natural Flavoured Cocoa Powder of your choice, Plain Icing Sugar and condensed milk or other liquid you prefer (water, milk).

3. Depending on the time of year you may need to add more or less condensed milk.

4. Chop this in with a spatula and then pop into the mixer.  Cover mixer with a tea towel to prevent an icing cloud. Whip until all incorporated and fluffy.

*Don’t worry if you see the Icing Sugar and Cocoa Powder pale, it will be a deep colour when all is mixed.
